All the other girls had a normal childhood, full of Girl Scouts and sleepovers, but Charlie Evans wasn't so lucky. Her life had been spent in and out the Cardiac Care Unit and moving across the country with her military father.   So when Charlie finds out she's moving back to her home town, she hopes things will finally be different. She has learned the hard way not to let anyone in. People always let her down, and it wasn’t easy to trust anyone new. That was until Sam Greyson walks into her life and threatens to knock down every wall she’d ever built to protect herself.   With Sam in the picture, Charlie decides to take one last shot and open herself up. With Sam’s help, she is finally able to let someone see the real, bruised and damaged girl inside. That is until she is forced to make a decision between her own happiness and ruining Sam’s life to be with him. If giving him up meant he could have a normal life…She would do it, in a broken heartbeat.

Always the cause of shenanigans, Vanessa is a heavily tattooed, sarcastic motorcycle enthusiast who started her career as a Jeep tech at the age of sixteen. The happily married mother of three little monsters—oops, children—lives in Kentucky by way of Las Vegas, Nevada. Once her life took a different direction—sidelined by Heart Disease at 26 and becoming a pacemaker recipient—she decided to write as a creative outlet, and Heartless was born. She realizes life can be dark clouds and acid rain at times, but her outlook on life puts a positive and sarcastic spin on it all.

 All you need is love...

Charlie would love a normal life. A life of not having to move 19 times, being able to lay down some roots and a heart that worked like everyone else, but everyone doesn't get what they want, or do they?

Having a hard outer shell is how Charlie has made it to where she is. Closing herself off and emerging herself in her books, but getting to move back to her hometown, Charlie will learn how to let her guard down.

A chance meeting at the local coffee shop is how their story began, but it's anything but perfect.

"I want you to know me. See me for what I really am."- Charlie

Letting Sam into her life after a horrible previous relationship and not being promised tomorrow is kinda hard.

Charlie and Sam will both get a big surprise and it will compromise their relationship. It will have them both questioning what they are doing.

"I don't like playing games."- Sam

Life decides to once again knock Charlie on her ass. She will have to make some decisions... to tell Sam the truth, or to save him from the pain she's had to put her loved one's through. But doesn't Sam get a choose what he wants?

"I can't promise you forever."- Charlie

With heart aches, secrets and life, can Charlie and Same have what they both want the most... each other?

Heartless is a great story of growing and we get to take the journey with the characters.  Charlie is feisty, bitchy, smart mouthed, foul talking girl. I really enjoyed reading about a character like her. She's not the typical bubble gum and pink goodness. She rides a kick ass motorcycle, can careless what others think and does what she wants. Her and Sam's relationship is anything but easy, because Charlie makes it that way. I really wanted to slap her a few times and tell her 'GO FOR IT! JUST STOP THINKING, DAMN IT!' Her back and forth drove me nuts. Sam did too! But in the end it all worked out the way we want, we just have to take the journey with them. I have to say the other characters added that bam to the book. Characters like them is what a good book needs, and it had it. I loved them and I know you will too. I enjoyed the fact that the author wrote what she knows and added her own life into it, with Charlie and her heart. Yes, I read the 'About the Author' section. I totally see Vanessa (AUTHOR) as Charlie. I'm excited to see where she takes Sam and Charlie next. I give this book 4 stars!
