Just inside the door, I put my hand on her arm to halt her exit. “Dinner?” “Nope.” “Lunch tomorrow?” Brooklynn sighed and turned to walk away, but there was a smile flirting around her mouth. I grabbed her arm to stop her again, pulled her inside and shoved the door shut. Walking her backward, I crowded her up against a wall. Having caught her by surprise, she didn’t protest when I dove my fingers into her hair and angled her head. I didn’t give her any time for her mind to catch up, covering her mouth with my own. She gasped, and I took advantage of the moment, my tongue entering her mouth to lick and tangle with hers. I groaned at her taste, it was fucking incredible, and I knew I was instantly addicted. Her hands had been at her sides but they slowly crept up over my chest, to hold on to my shoulders as though they were the only thing holding her up. I combed my fingers through her hair and then they traveled down to splay across her back, pressing her body forward and flush with mine. Fuck, she felt good. My erection was on the brink of exploding, so hard it was almost painful to breathe. I had to stop before I reached a point of no return. I knew I could seduce her right out of her clothes at that moment, but she’d never forgive me. No, we’d fuck when she wanted it with a clear mind. I backed off of the kiss and then slowly withdrew completely. She was dazed and mussed up, looking like she’d just been thoroughly kissed. It was a look I hoped to see on her more often. I cupped her face and waited until the fog dissipated from her chocolate orbs. “How about I cook you breakfast?” I grinned roguishly and winked. “Are you kidding me?” she scoffed at my cheesy line.
I just shrugged and grinned. It was worth a shot

Brooklynn

“There’s a song on the record called ‘Sanity,’ and I co-wrote it with this fucking gorgeous woman right here. It will debut on the radio in just a couple of weeks.” A stage tech ran out, and while Levi continued to tease the fans, they attached a wireless mic to my cheek. “So! Have you guessed what your surprise is?” he shouted. “You guys get to be the first to hear it!” Their response is epic and they went crazier still when Matteo started beating a low, steady rhythm on his floor tom. Then he transitioned into the fast and heavy, hard rock beat. Simon and Levi joined him, and a couple of bars later, I opened my mouth and sang the most important notes I’d ever sung in my life. As I sang the first verse, the world began to melt away completely, leaving only Levi and me. When he began to sing his lyrics, our lines clashing and emoting the first stage of crazy, our eyes were already locked. We reached the first chorus and Sasha added her haunting violin. The cacophony of sounds built up the tension inside me. In the safety of the stage and a huge audience, I finally let loose all the caged passion I’d kept locked up tight. We were approaching the section with the instrumental solos, and Levi’s voice dropped so low that the arena fell silent, the audience mesmerized by him. As he crooned the lyrics about love and a broken mind, he faced me and when he reached the break, he faded out completely. The audience reacted to Matteo, Simon, and Sasha with the same exuberance as they had when Levi and I had been singing. Sasha finished her solo, transitioning into the most intense part of the song. I didn’t even think, too wrapped up in the music. My mouth opened, and I let every repressed emotion I had for Levi pour from my soul. The cello’s rich strains crescendoed, and Levi I circled each other on the stage. I stared into those aqua eyes, captivated by the dark swirl of need that he wasn’t even attempting to hide. Each time we sang together, our voices melded, creating a sound that had shivers coursing through my body. We hit the pinnacle of the song and then the last notes were solemn, the lyrics about giving in to the insanity of love and drowning in the crazy. Levi wandered over to me and his hand came up to cup my cheek. I was overwhelmed by the thick atmosphere, so full of lust and emotion, as though our voices were engaged in dirty, sweaty sex. The other instruments faded out, and all that was left was the smooth, dark melody coming from Sasha’s cello. She pulled the bow slowly on the last note, and it hung in the air, the only sound in the otherwise complete silence in the arena. The lights descended until it was almost completely dark. I was still glued to Levi’s intense stare until I could no longer see him, but I could feel him. The connection was severed when the world around us erupted. The lights went back up and he put on his most charming smile before turning to the audience and throwing his hands into the air. “She’s amazing, right?” he shouted, receiving an even louder roar of applause in response.

I look up into the mirror and see the female bartender from last night leaning against the counter top behind me. It’s clear that she was waiting for me, so I continue on with my task, but raise an eyebrow in question.
She eyes my curves with disdain and unconsciously smoothes a hand over her slender frame, brushing away non-existent wrinkles. “Phin mentioned that you are old friends,” she snips.
“Yes,” I answer flatly, using a paper towel to dry my hands.
“I wouldn’t read too much into him taking you out,” she warns, “He isn’t the type to settle down.” She does another once over, then molds her face into what I’m assuming is supposed to be sympathetic, but instead, makes her look like Miss Piggy with overly wide eyes and her scrunched nose in the air. “If I couldn’t get him to settle down, no one can.” Now her look turns stubborn with a side of menacing, “So, don’t try to fight for him; you’ll lose.”
One mental eye roll and a satisfying vision of a bitch slap later, I quip, “Thanks for the heads up, but ‘I, moiself, have always enjoyed a good scrimmage.’” Oink, oink. I immediately turn toward the door, dismissing her and ending this high school-esque conversation. I don’t even throw out a “Boo, you whore” on my way out. Score one for being a grownup—mostly. I may have indulged in imagining the door smacking her in the face and permanently scrunching up her nose.

Brannon

This is the third book in the Fae Guard series.  While each book is about a different couple, there is a continuing story line throughout the series.  I highly suggest you read them in order so it will make more sense.  Plus all the characters are in every book.

Brannon has loved Hayleigh since he first saw her four years ago.  He knows they aren’t soul mates, but he really does love her.  He’s been patient with waiting for her.  He’s almost at his limit though.

Hayleigh wants Brannon also.  But she has been shunned basically her whole life.  She doesn’t know how to do any type of relationship.  She’s slowly learning though.

“You’re going to stop fighting me and let me love you.  We’ll see where this goes from day to day.  Now, you’re going to get your ass over here and let me kiss you like I’ve wanted to for four fucking years.”

They don’t have it easy.  Both have some secrets they need to share with each other in order to move forward in their relationship.

That ending!  What the heck is going on with Kendrix and what is Fate making him do??!!

Excerpt

“It doesn’t matter the reasons, Brannon. You want me to give you my trust, well, it goes both ways. You’ll just have to trust me when I say that I have boundaries and if you can’t be comfortable with them, then we can’t have anything at all.”

Oh, hell to the motherfucking no.

“Baby, you threw that option out the window when you showed up on my doorstep. I’m not letting you go, no more dancing around this. You’re mine. End of.”

Hayleigh’s eyes widen at my little speech, but then they narrow menacingly, her brows dropping deep over her frosty gaze. She opens her mouth to speak, but I keep her silent with a finger on her lips. I trail the finger down her silky cheek and then lower until I reach a nipple, then draw a circle around it. I can vaguely see it hardening through her shirt and when I brush across it, she gasps. I lean forward and place my lips on the shell of her ear. “You’re body agrees with me. I bet if I slipped my finger into your pussy, I’d find you drenched for me.”

I take the hand I’m holding and place it over my rock hard cock, then shift it up and splay her hand on my pounding heart, “And, I’m yours.”

Once again, I shut her down when she tries to talk, “No, baby.” I growl. Her eyes get big again at the rare gruff sound coming from me. “We’ve done this your way for four years. We are going to do it my way now. You don’t have to tell me everything right now. Eventually, you’ll trust me enough to share it all with me. For now, you’re going to put your big girl panties on,” I immediately push away the images of lacy shit that pop into my mind, and rush on before she blisters me with the fury in her eyes, “and give us a chance.”

“Let’s be clear about one thing,” I continue, “I decide what is best for me, what my heart can handle, whether I want to take a chance on us. That is my choice. So, get rid of any ideas you have about wanting to spare me the hurt, or thinking you know what I want, these are not your decisions to make. These are just excuses for you to hide behind and I’m not going to allow it. If you walk away, you’ll have to own it. Do you understand?”

Hayleigh is looking at me with anger and shock, but underneath it all, I see the hope lighting her eyes from within. It finally dawns on me, Hayleigh want me to make the decision for her, to take charge and pushing her to take a step she doesn’t have the courage to take on her own. I have zero problems with that.

“So, here is what we are going to do, you’re going to stop fighting me and let me love you. We’ll see where this goes from day to day. Now, you’re going to get your ass over here and let me kiss you like I’ve wanted to for four fucking years.”

**BLOG TOUR WITH REVIEWS** The Fae Guard Series by Elle Christensen

ELLEBT.png

Shaylee.jpg

Protecting Shaylee (Book 1)
Shaylee

As a child, I believed in the fairytales my father told me.
Until he was gone and with him, that belief.
As a girl, I believed in the friendship and protection of Aden.
He made me begin to believe again.
As a woman, I believed in the possibility of love and passion between myself and Aden.
Until he was gone and with him, my belief in magic and happy endings.

Aden

When she was a child, I was tasked with her protection.
As a girl, I became her friend.
As a woman, I could no longer see the child I knew and was forced to fight a growing attraction.
Unable to lie and unable to tell the truth, I left.
Now I’ve returned to give the knowledge I couldn’t before, that she is half Fae.
The darkness is stalking her and I am desperate to teach her what she needs to know to protect herself.
And determined to make her mine.

**Recommended for 18+ due to sexual content and language

I’ve been wanting a good paranormal book, so when I saw the signups for this series, and read the synopsis, I had to sign up for the tour.  I wasn’t disappointed and will definitely continue reading the series.

This book is about Fae.  Now it is a little different than other Fae books I have read, which is a very good thing.  I like how they aren’t actually like the “normal” fae you read about.

I did take half a star away because I knew right away who the stalker was.

Shaylee has no clue she is half-fae.  Her father told her stories of fairies all the time, before he was killed.  She thought they were just fairy tales.  On her twenty-first birthday, she learns the truth.  Aden tells her.

Now Aden has been around her off and on for her entire life.  He was friends with her dad.  Two years ago, things got heated between them and he left.  She hasn’t seen him since.

I do love the love story between these two.  Shaylee doesn’t take his crap.  She gives as good as she gets.  And she doesn’t back down, even though Aden is a complete alpha male, complete with caveman like tendencies.

I can’t wait to read Ean’s story next!

ean.jpg

Loving Ean (Book 2)

Laila

All of my life, I dreamt of my own fairy tale romance.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that my soul mate was a lifelong friend.
Ean is everything I want and everything I need.
But, my romance has become a fractured fairy tale.
Ean has pulled away and let his pain engulf him, leaving no room for me.
I want to heal him and bring him back to me.
But, if he won’t let me, I will move on.
I will find another destiny.

Ean
Laila is the best part of me, the light in my soul.
She is my destiny.
I want to give her all that I am, all that I have.
But, the guilt and pain from my mistake has ruined me
I am not worthy of her and I will not drag her down into my Hell.
My love for her is forever.
But, she deserves some one who isn’t broken
So, I’ll watch her walk away, into the arms of another.

*Recommended for ages 18+ due to language and sexual content

This is the second book in this series.  You don’t have to read them in order, but I recommend that you do, because the previous couple are also in this book, quite a bit.

This is an easy read.  It does take place at the same time as Protecting Shaylee, but there are only a couple scenes that overlap, so it didn’t bother me.  Now at the end, the book does jump ahead some.

I wish we would have had more of a story after Fate took Aodhagan.

This is Laila and Ean’s story.  They are fated, they both know it.  Ean is a rollercoaster though and Laila is basically his booty call.  The sex scenes are hot, but by the end of the book I found myself skimming them.  I would have liked more story than sex for the last few chapters.  Still a good read and a series I will continue to read.

It is a unique series about Fae.

Protecting Shaylee

Aden leans his back against the wall and grasps my waist, bringing me close until I’m standing within the V of his legs, cradled to his chest. I give in for the moment and snuggle into his heat. He kisses the top of my head, then my forehead, each of my eyes, my nose, and finally, brushes a sweet kiss across my lips. Tucking me back into his chest, he sets his chin on my head and exhales a sigh. “I’ll try to rein it in.” My eyes fly up to his and although I know the words coming from his mouth are sincere, I see it blatantly in his eyes and all my irritation recedes.
His eyes probe mine, and I see the desire lurking in their depths as well. “Despite your stubborn resistance to admitting it out loud, we both know you’re mine. Body, heart, and soul, we belong together. You’re also mine to protect, Shaylee, and I can’t do that if I’m not there. I need you with me like I need air to breathe, baby.”
My lungs are choked with emotion at his words. I want to let go and fall into him completely, but my wounds are still a little raw and I need time for them to heal. I lift my eyes and contemplate what I see in the green jade staring down at me.

“I’m not ready, Aden. I’ll stay close and let you protect me. But, I’m not ready to open up my heart and soul to you. I don’t think I can survive having it broken again.” I place my finger on his lips to keep him from protesting. “Give me time.”
He studies me, searching my face for something, and I know he wants to continue the discussion. My insides uncoil with relief when he brushes his nose against mine and releases me. “Go, baby. Get inside before I throw you over my shoulder and spend the night convincing you. I’ll meet you in the training room around ten in the morning.” He nods toward the door. I back away slowly, open my door, and duck inside. As I close it, I look out again and see Aden watching me longingly. “I’m serious, baby, shut that door right now or you’ll be spending the night without any sleep.” I shake my head in mock exasperation, but grin at him as I shut the door. I lean heavily back on it and my body slides languidly down to the floor. I hear a thump and the sound of fabric rustling. My lips curl up when I realize that Aden is sitting as I am, on the other side of my door.
Aden’s voice is muffled when he groans, “You’d better lock the fucking door, Shaylee.” A giggle escapes my mouth as I stand and flip the lock before I walk away.

Loving Ean

“Ean!”
My eyes fly open and I jackknife up in bed, pain searing on my chest. Laila has got ahold of my nipples and she is twisting them tight, shooting pain straight to my belly. What the hell?
“What the fuck, Ean?” She’s screeches. I’m desperately trying to get her to relieve the pressure from her evil little fingers, so I don’t answer right away. This seems to piss her off even more, but to my relief, she releases my abused nubs. I rub my chest gingerly, trying to alleviate some of the pain. She’s once again straddling me, her hands tugging at her hair, clearly freaking out about something. Laila angry is hot as hell. Laila angry while she sits naked, astride my morning hard on? Said hard on has turned into a steel baseball bat.
“Baby, calm down. What’s the matter?” I soothe. I move slightly to try and find a more comfortable spot, but my cock is so hard, it doesn’t matter.
Laila freezes and glares down at the offending appendage. “Seriously?” Her fiery green eyes meet mine, and it does absolutely nothing to help the situation. I do, however, get a little concerned for the future state of my cock when she glances down menacingly. Lucky for us both, she rolls her eyes and climbs off of me, and then the bed.
“It’s morning, baby. You were sitting on me naked. Did you really expect no reaction to that?” Her expression darkens a little but then lets up, because she knows I’m right. “Now, what’s got you so worked up?”
Most likely trying to avoid yelling again, Laila’s mouth clamps shut, her face turning red, and points to a spot on the bed next to me. I look to where she is referring to and see a spot of dried moisture on the sheets. I return my gaze to her, confused, “What? That spot?”
Laila growls in frustration and tugs at her hair once again. “You didn’t use a fucking condom, Ean!”
The realization stuns me. I have never forgotten a condom, not even with Laila. Particularly with Laila, actually. There was no way I was going to get her pregnant and leave, so I’d been extra vigilant. I guess now that I’d decided to be with her, it wasn’t so prevalent on my mind. But, I’m not Aden, (don’t give me that look. I’m not insulting the guy. That he was a total dumbass is fact) I don’t want to get Laila pregnant so she’ll be tied to me just because we are having a kid. I almost shudder at the thought of kids anyway. I want them, don’t get me wrong. Right now, though? The idea scares the shit out of me.
I scrub my hands over my face tiredly; it’s too early in the morning for this shit. “I’m sorry, Laila. I’ve never forgotten before. It had been so long, and you were just so fucking beautiful, I guess I just got carried away. I’m sorry, truly.”
A little of the fire backs away and she looks somewhat mollified. “Well, it’s really a moot point anyway, right? I’m on the pill and it’s not like this will happen again.” Pain knifes through me at her words, but I know I deserve it. I’ll change her mind.
