Series: Assassins #4
Author: Ella Sheridan
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: August 26, 2019

Blurb

My brother believes he made me a killer. The truth is, I’ve always been different. I can smile while sliding a knife between your ribs—and not feel a moment of regret.

Until Leah.

A man like me shouldn’t have a family. But the minute I opened my eyes from a coma and saw her, I knew I’d forever be tied to her. A nurse who nurtures life. A mother.

I’ve stalked her for two years, unable to stop but refusing to give in to the need to have her. To love her. Until the night her daughter is taken. I’ll light up the world to get Leah’s child back to her.

And then I’ll walk away for good. Not because it’s the right thing to do, but because I know how she’ll look at me after seeing who I truly am.

She’ll see the murderer inside me. And God help me, but she’ll be right.

Excerpt

A ragged sigh escaped Leah when my arm settled across her belly, but she didn’t wake, not then and not when I pulled her into the curve of my body. The silence wrapped around us like a warm blanket, turning tense muscles liquid and soothing the runaway thoughts in my head. Warriors knew to sleep when given the slightest opportunity. I knew to be grateful for the slightest bit of peace, and I reveled in it now.
At least until Leah stirred in my arms. Seconds later her body went rigid.
“It’s all right, just me,” I murmured into her hair.
“Remi.”
My name, husky in her sleep-roughened voice. Blood surged to my cock without my permission. “Yeah.”
Leah tried to turn, to face me, but I tightened my arms. Just a few minutes longer. Or a lifetime. I wasn’t anywhere near ready to let go.
She stilled. Relaxed. Her body went boneless against mine in an age-old display of trust. Leah wasn’t submissive, not anywhere else, but here, now, she was surrendering her body to my demands. It was the kind of gift a man like me would never dream of receiving because we didn’t deserve it.
Leah gave it anyway, hardening my cock even more.

I pulled away with a soft laugh. “We better get to the bed before I lose the ability to use my knees.”
“Lead the way.”
I rolled my eyes, grabbed his hand, and pulled him toward the bed. Turning, I sat on the edge of the bed and eyed Ryan expectantly. How did I do this again?
Ryan chuckled as he toed off his work boots. They fell to the floor with a thump. “You should see your face right now.”
“Do I look freaked? Because I feel kinda freaked. I don’t know how to do this. I mean, I’ve done this before—just not this this, ya know?”
“Hey, hey.” Ryan sat next to me on the edge of the bed. “There’s no right way or wrong way to do this. There’s no game plan or checklist or whatever. We just do whatever feels right, whatever you want.”
“Okay.” I gave a shuddering sigh as I looked into his gorgeous eyes. “Then I want you to kiss me.”
“Maybe we should—”
“No. You said whatever feels right. And it always feels right when you kiss me.” I leaned into him and his arm came around my shoulders and settled in a way that just…felt right. “Please.”
Ryan groaned. “Christ. You have no idea what it does to me when you bring out the eyes. You could ask me anything, and I’d probably do it.”
“Then kiss me already.”
He leaned toward me, his lips hovering over mine, and then he whispered, “As long as you promise to only use your powers for good.”
“No promises,” I whispered back.
Ryan’s eyes flared and he groaned. “Fuck me.”
Then his lips covered mine, and I lost the ability to think. All I could do was feel. His amazing lips. The way his hair felt in my hands because I had to hold him somewhere. The way my heart raced when he suckled on my tongue.
Minutes later I was the one tugging frantically at his clothing because I had to feel him. Everywhere.
Ryan’s laugh was husky in my ear and made me want to moan. “I think the only thing hotter than your gorgeous eyes is how eager you are right now.”
I swung my leg over his hips so I could straddle him. Looking into his eyes, I smiled wickedly.
Ryan cleared his throat unevenly. “Uh, I stand corrected. Apparently you can get way hotter.”
The power I felt in that moment… The fact that I had this man, this crazy hot guy, so worked up and just willing to do anything that I wanted? I think I could’ve come from that thought alone.
Then I pulled his shirt up and over his head.
Or maybe the view of his hard, tattooed body would send me over the edge.
I ran an appreciative hand over the art covering his chest and arms. The heart on his left pec with “family” written in script. The flamed motorcycle racing down his arm. And the muscles. Sweet baby Jesus, the muscles! He had so many muscles I couldn’t even…
He took advantage of my temporary paralysis and tugged my shirt up and over my head. A reverent expression stole across his face. “Ah, Hope. You’re just…”
He trailed off in a groan before he took my lips again in a harsh, hungry kiss.
I ached to feel those lips on my nipples. Unconsciously arching toward him, I moaned into his mouth. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore. I reached behind me to unclasp my bra but my fingers were swiftly batted away by Ryan’s. He made quick work of the clasp and then my bra was falling down my arms, baring me to Ryan’s hungry eyes.
“Christ, they’re even more gorgeous than I imagined.” He lifted a hand and cupped the underside of my left breast.
My cheeks heated with his compliment. Or the contact. I didn’t know which. I bit my lip and looked down at where his tanned, calloused fingers held my pale breast. “You’ve been thinking about my boobs for a while?”
Ryan groaned and brushed his stubbled cheek against my nipple. “All night. And occasionally when I was alone the last few months. I couldn’t get you out of my head after that first night. How you looked. That scent. The way your voice sounded.”
“And my boobs?” I teased. But still, I was caught by the way he remembered me. I’d had such an impact on him that he thought about me, too?
“There’s no way to get these babies out of my mind.” Ryan murmured as he rasped his cheek against my hard nipple again. Then he finally stopped teasing me and gave what I craved. He captured the tip of my breast in his mouth and suckled hard.
And I melted. I think I groaned or something. I know I burrowed a hand into his hair and held him against me. Like I was afraid he’d try to get away.
Ryan pulled back—as much as my greedy hands would let him—and blew gently on my wet nipple before turning his head and laving attention on my other, poor, neglected tip.
I closed my eyes and let my head fall back as the sensations shrouded me. I wanted more. I wanted deeper. I wanted him all. My thighs clenched and I was seconds away from my second orgasm of the night when Ryan pulled away with a groan.
“Shit, beautiful.” His breath was warm against my shoulder. “You keep grinding on me like that and this show is gonna be over before I even get out of my pants.”

**RELEASE BOOST** Perky by Julia Kent

Title: Perky
Author: Julia Kent
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: July 30, 2019

Blurb

AN ALL-NEW STANDALONE FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIA KENT

One hundred years ago when I was young and impulsive (okay, it was five, alright? Five years ago...) I let my boyfriend take, let's just say... compromising pictures of me.

(Shut up. It made sense at the time).

Surprise! The sleazy back-stabbing jerk posted them on a website and, well, you can guess what happened. That's right.

I'm a meme. A really gross one.

You've seen the pictures. And if you haven't - don't ask. And don't look!

As face recognition software online improves, I get tagged on social media whenever anyone shares my pictures. You try getting a thousand notifications a day, all of them pictures of your tatas.

So. I'm done.

It's time for revenge. Let him see how it feels! But how do you get embarrassingly intimate pictures of your jerkface ex who double-crossed you five years ago?

Especially when he's a member of the U.S.House of Representatives now?

Getting sweet between the sheets with a congressman is pretty much every political roadie's dream, right? I'm one in a crowd.

Except to this day, he swears he didn't do it. Pursued me for months after I dumped him five years ago. Begged me to take him back.

And I almost did it. Almost. I was weak and stupid and in love a hundred years ago.

Okay. Fine. Five.

But I still have the upper hand. Second chance romance has all the emotional feels, doesn't it?

I can't wait to punch him in the feels.

All I need to do is sleep with him once, take some hot-and-sweaty pics of him in... delicate positions, and bring him down. That's it. Nothing more.

Pictures first. Revenge after. And then I win.

At least, that's how it was supposed to happen. But then I did something worse than sexting.

I fell in love with him. Again.

Parker’s grasp as we kiss is masterful, his hips pivoting until we’re in a tiny closet, the door shutting behind us, our bodies surrounded by coats. At any second, someone could walk in, find us, interrupt and embarrass us, but I don’t care as my fingers grasp his thick, hard chest. He doesn’t care as his hand slides between my thighs, my need to be touched so great that I moan into his mouth, biting his lip. He makes a sound that says he needs this, too, his erection pressing into my hip, the centering of his thickness as he nudges my legs wider with his knee making me hold my breath as he rubs up, just once, just right, just there.
“I’ve missed you,” he hisses as his mouth takes my earlobe, sucking gently, then hard, the tip of his tongue flicking and laving, my clit spasming as it imagines him doing this between my legs. My fingertips dig into his shoulders, one hand diving down the length of his abs until I cup his sac, then ride the ridge of my palm up his long, thick, engorged–
“What are we doing, Parker?” I gasp.
“Whatever we want,” he says, so steady, so sure, so unabashedly here.
“SKIP?” someone calls out from behind the door.
“PERKY?” Mallory whisper-yells, her voice breaking through as I clench, my whole body going tight, the core of me shivering with an orgasm that crashes over me as Parker’s leg, his mouth, his very presence, make me lose my everloving mind.
And all my self-control.
Every shred of it.

Sorceress, enchantress, deceiver, murderer—I’ve been called all those and more, some that might make you blush. Lucky for me, I couldn’t care less what people think about me. I’ve had my sights set on one thing for the last thousand years, and that’s all that matters. I’ll do whatever it takes to find the cauldron, even if it means taking on a partner. I don’t play particularly well with others, but he’s the best shot I’ve got, so I’ll hop on that train and hope it gets me where I need to go. “Don’t be absurd. I’m not having sex in Magda’s house, and I told you it wasn’t happening again, anyway. I only agreed to fuel your magic that one time, nothing more.” My smile died as the words came out, and Knight’s playful manner charged to something visceral.
The air in the room thickened, and my heartbeat hammered in my throat. Knight’s lips lifted seductively as he placed the pad of his thumb against the pulse point on my neck.
“That’s not what this says. The thrumming of your heart tells me just the suggestion of having me inside you excites you. You want me as much as I want you. Lucky for you, I had no plans of ravaging you tonight. The noises you’ll make when I’m inside you would terrify poor Magda.”
I took in a steadying breath through my nose, trying not to broadcast how profoundly Knight’s words had affected me.
“I don’t think we need to fear her, but I also don’t think she’s so meek as she would have us believe. She knew about you, that you had suffered. I have no doubt she knew plenty about me as well.”
His features hardened, jaw muscles contracting. “Even more reason to be on our guard. Now, get ready for bed—the sooner this is over, the sooner I can fuck you properly.” He spun me around and placed a sharp swat on my rear.
I yipped in surprise and glowered at him, which only spurred him on. We washed up, and while I stayed in my clothes, Knight stripped to his underwear. Had he been any other man, I would have openly gawked without any problem. Considering our unique situation, I didn’t want to give him any ammunition to use against me. He already knew he affected me, the last thing I needed was for him to catch me openly ogling him.
Same as the night before, as soon as I crawled into bed, Knight yanked me against him. I glared back at him with as much annoyance as I could muster.
“You know, not everyone likes to sleep all smashed together.”
“Whatever,” he murmured into my hair. “You slept so soundly in my arms last night, your snoring could have woken the dead. It was a miracle we survived at all.”
I elbowed him in the gut with indignation. “I do not snore, you giant flea bag.”
Knight burst out laughing and pulled me in even tighter. His soft chuckle close to my ear made my skin prickle with awareness. I attempted to remain stiff and surly, but Knight had a way of withering away my resolve. With his thumb lazily stroking back and forth across my belly, he whispered to me softly.
“Not only do you not snore, you’re even more beautiful when you sleep. I hadn’t thought it was possible, but when you are drifting at peace, you look like an angel.”
For so long, I had accepted my reputation and played my part well. I fed into the rumors, and people saw me as a heartless bitch, treating me as such.
To some extent, I’d begun to believe it was true.
Until I’d met Knight.
He made me remember the person I used to be. Even more confusing, he made me wonder if I wanted to be her again. He made me think and feel a lot of things—all of them complex and terrifying. I wasn’t sure what to do with any of it. I certainly wasn’t ready to share those feelings—nor the tear that slipped from my eye at his words.

Author Bio

Within a year of self-publishing her first book, Jill Ramsower quit her job as an attorney and dedicated her days to churning out romantic adventures. She likes to think of her books as contemporary romance with a touch of fantasy—at its core, her writing is about the connection between two people. Sometimes that connection involves a little magic…

With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming.

Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she's a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories.
