Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: March 12, 2019
Every choice has a consequence…
Detective Tate Powell is consumed by two things—the woman who managed to capture his heart with a single look and to catch the man that killed his sister. When he finds out the man he’s been seeking, the man he will kill with his bare hands, is none other than his girlfriend’s brother, he knows his entire life is over. Because nothing will stop him from seeking revenge, even if it means losing her.
Abby Forrester never knew she could fall in love so easily, but Tate slipped under her defenses without even blinking. She should’ve never confessed her brother is the man that killed his sister. But now that she has, she’ll do everything in her power to protect him from ruining his life—and from killing her brother. Even if she has to do the unthinkable. Turn against him.
“It’s not a memory I like to reminisce about, Tate. Did you ever stop to wonder why Cooper wanted to come to New York? How I would know he was coming here?”
Running a hand through his hair, he laughed. “Of course. But you chose not to tell me the whys and hows.”
“If I knew you’d do the right thing, maybe I’d be more forthcoming about information.”
His lips turned into a fierce frown. “Killing him is the right thing. He’s a monster.”
Throwing her hands in the air, she opened her mouth as if to scream, but didn’t. “I hate arguing with you. How did we just have the most amazing sex and now we’re fighting?”
Memories flashed in his mind of his hands on her soft skin, of thrusting deep inside, of holding her close. He wanted to go back to that moment in time where no problems existed, where lies couldn’t be told.
“Because you can’t see the truth. We will always argue until you face the truth. Cooper is a monster. He needs to go.”
“By your hand?”
“I don’t expect you to kill him.”
A melancholy expression fell across her face. “I think Brandan called him. He pulled his phone out when he walked away from my table. I think he lied to me about speaking to Cooper.”
“Did you mention this to the detective before I got there?”
“No. But I’m sure they’ll eventually pull his phone records and see he called someone less than twenty minutes before his death.”
“It’s like going up on a hill with you. The walk is exhausting and treacherous, but once you reach the top, the view is breathtaking.” A tiny smile emerged as he took a step closer to her. He grabbed her hand. “Can you please stop making things difficult for me? I only want to keep you safe. With him alive, you’re not safe.”
She squeezed his hand. “He would never hurt me.”
“What do you call a sitting duck?”
She flinched and tried to pull her hand from his. He wouldn't let go. “Why would you say that?”
Slipping his free hand into his pocket, he pulled out the note Cooper left him. “Because your brother left me a message. Maybe you can tell me the answer. Because the only answer I see is the one where he’s threatening you.”
“Or you.” Her eyes sparkled with a hint of rage mingled with fear.
He let the note drift to the floor, wrapped his arms around her waist, and pulled her closer. His mouth hovered above hers. “He definitely meant you. I have no doubt in my mind. Because your brother is no idiot. He knows the one and only weakness I have.”
“You’re not weak. Nothing will stop you from hurting him. If there was a way, I’d use it against you.”
“You’re wrong, Abby.” His lips touched hers gently. “You’re my weakness. He knows it.”

I love anything that has to do with romance. As long as there’s a happy ending, I’m a happy camper. I love baseball (Go Twins!) and creating awesome crafts. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, working in that field for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom. When I’m not hanging out with my wonderful family, I’m writing a sweet contemporary romance or a romantic suspense that keeps you guessing until the end. I have a few more amazing stories in the works. If you would like to connect with me or see important news, head to my website at http://www.amandasiegrist.com.
