Review of Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In a new world, long after our world is gone, nothing is like it use to be. There are two different blood lines. The Reds, who are the lower class citizens. The workers, the war fighters. The ones that are tossed aside. Then there are the Silvers. The regales, Kings and Queens. Princes and Princess. And they hold all different superhuman powers. All.

Mare Barrow is just your typical Red girl from the Stilts. She steals and pickpockets to her her way and to help her family. With consumption heading her way (heading to war) she's desperate to save herself and her best friend, Kilorn.

One desperate night of pick pocking the wrong man, her whole life will change in a blink of an eye.
She's tossed into this new world surrounded by Silvers. But Mare isn't like any other Red, she's different. Even different from the Silvers. She's something else totally different.

She'll have to learn about her new self, this new world and all the carnage the Silvers bring. It's time to change the Reds life's. To watch a new dawn rise. To put an end to the killings and depravity. Mare will put her own life on the line for everyone else. But will that even be enough?

Red Queen isn't my typical read. But I thew caution to the wind and dived in head first, and glad I did. This is a world so different than ours. And you just have to know what's going to happen next. It's a constant roller coaster, always heading up. This book keeps you on your toes. You think it's going to go one way, and then bam, this happens. I'm excited to see where the next book leads.
