Blurb
Spin-Off of Navy SEAL Midnight Delta Series

This is what you need to know.
I keep the people around me safe,
And sometimes I rain vengeance on my enemies.
It's who I am, and what I do.
As a former Army Ranger, I get the job done.
After an unforgivable betrayal by one of my own,
I created the Shadow Alliance.
We handle the dark and dangerous work,
Jobs that governments won't.

And now, the sexy, smart, and feisty Allison Davies needs my help.
As an FBI Agent, enlisting my help could cost her job.
But, I'm her only hope.
There's only one problem.
Our mutual desire just might get in the way.
One misstep and we become the hunted.
A price I just might be willing to pay.

This is the first book in the Shadow Alliance series, and the first book by Caitlyn O’Leary that I have read.  It definitely won’t be the last either.  I want to read her SEAL series now.

This is a great read and brought me out of my reading funk.  I just couldn’t get into anything for about a week and this book pulled me in.

I love Declan and his team.  He can be over the top protective of them, but only because he loves every one of them.  He has a huge heart, and we see that when he is with Anna.  He’s a great guy.

All of the team is great, including Allison and K.C.

Allison is an FBI agent.  She has found her way to Paraguay to find Declan.

They’re after the same asshole.

This book is filled with adventure and I can’t wait to read more about all these characters.

EXCERPT #2
I ran fast.  Faster.  The door to the gymnasium was propped open, and I was blown back by the sound of people screaming, crying, yelling and talking.  So much sound.  It was dark where I was, but then I saw in one corner where it was bright because the ceiling was gone.  It was the corner where I’d slept.  Had there been a warning?  A sound?  Anything that told people they should move?  Run?  And why the hell hadn’t I considered that the roof might be less than sturdy?  Wasn’t that why I was in Paraguay?
The water was up to my ankles.  It took all I had to be gentle when I wanted to force myself through the throng of people, to yell and scream at them to get out of my way so I could get to where the roof had caved in.  All that mattered was getting to that corner of the gym.  I needed to see if the little girl’s cot was still there or was it underneath the sodden mess of a roof.
A man was in front of me, unaware I was trying to get past.  I had to stop, and it about killed me.
“Sir?”  I tried to get his attention.  Nothing.  “Sir?”  Still nothing.  Maybe if I just belted him, I could just step over his unconscious body.  I couldn’t very well step on the child to his left or the little boys to his right.
Allison stepped in front of me and pushed the man.  Hard.
“What?”
When he turned, I saw a mask of grief.  No wonder he hadn’t heard.  But I still needed to get past.  Allison had gotten him turned enough to give us space to go forward.
“Declan!”  It was Hudson.  He and six or seven others were struggling to move a beam.  It wasn’t where I wanted to be.  I needed to get over to the corner, but…
I pushed in beside Hudson.  Allison was beside me.  Soon the beam was up.  Allison and another man ducked under, and after long moments pulled out a man and a woman who’d been trapped.
“Clear!” she called.  We set the beam down.
I grabbed her by the shoulders.  “What the hell were you thinking going under there?”
“I was the smallest.  I was also probably the weakest one holding up the beam, it made sense for me to go.”
“Yeah, Emma would have done the same thing.”  I grabbed her hand and dragged her toward the spot where the little girl had slept.  Where she had made me promise to come back.  “I need to check on some people,” I said, proud that my voice sounded even.
As I got closer, I saw wood, plaster, and steel covering the area where the cots had been.  Why wasn’t anyone trying to lift the shit off the cots?  For God’s sake, people had been sleeping there hours ago.  Were these people monsters?
“Hudson!  Over here!”  I knew it was useless, I made a grab for my phone when a man interrupted me.
“Sir.”  He had the white vest and red cross on it.
“What?” I demanded, close to pushing him out of my way.
“This area has been cleared.”
“What do you mean?  What happened to the people who were on these cots?”  I pointed to the mangled aluminum that popped through the plaster.  Did I even want to know the answer to my question?
“We’ve got the survivors in the triage area.”  He pointed to a spot in another corner.
“How many fatalities?”  I held my breath for the answer.
“I don’t know.  I wasn’t there when the area was cleared.”
Halfway across the gym, I realized I was dragging Allie behind me.  She was keeping up easily.  She squeezed my hand, and I kept going.
“Who are you looking for?”
“That’s where I slept last night.  There’s a little girl who’s been following me around for the last ten days…”
“We’ll find her,” she said softly, but I heard her just fine.
