This is a great read. There is a novella that comes before this book and I recommend that you do read Tough Love, before you read Love the Way You Lie. If you don't read it first, you will be wondering what exactly Honey, AKA Honor, and Clara are running from and why.
Honor is know known as Honey. She is a stripper because she is on the run with her younger sister Clara. She has to keep them safe. She was suppose to marry Byron, who was being groomed to take over the family. Yes, Honor is a principessa for a mob family. But Byron would beat her and rape her. Once he wanted to give her 15 year old sister to one of his friends, she knew they had to run. They did have help leaving. Giovanni helped them. We have no idea if he is dead or alive now. More than likely, he is dead because of it.
We don't get to see much of Clara in this book. This is Honor's story. She does things that she would have never thought of doing, in order to keep her sister safe. Stripping and basically prostituting herself at the club. She's also trying to get information about her mom from the clubs owner.
Kip is very mysterious. At first, I wasn't sure if he was there to turn her in to Byron or not. I do like him though.
"I thought I could use you to get close to Clara but keep you at a distance. I thought I could fuck you and not care about you."
"I was wrong."
This isn't a sunshine, flowers, and rainbows romance. This is raw, dirty, and about doing what you have to do in order to protect someone you love. Yes, there is a love story, but it's a dark one. There are secrets that come out.
Honor is an amazing character. She gave up everything in order to keep Clara safe from the same fate she had.
